Join the Growing Number of Inspiring STEM Teachers Through the Noyce Teach Scholarship Program

The mission of the Noyce Teacher Scholarship Program at St. Edward's University is to recruit, prepare, and support 18 math and science teachers as they develop professional agency to motivate their students to develop both STEM and stewardship skills.

Partners include the University of Texas at Austin, Del Valle Independent School District, Breakthrough Collaborative and co.Lab.  A unique feature of this project is the inclusion of a micro-credential for Noyce scholars with a Makers Engaged in Social Action (MESA) focus and professional digital portfolio as an artifact for public dissemination.

The image shows a woman with long, dark hair sitting on a counter in a room that appears to be a laboratory or classroom. She is wearing a black blazer over a patterned blouse and black pants. She has a friendly expression with a broad smile and is looking directly at the camera. Behind her are wooden cabinets and a small section of a tiled wall. The lighting is soft, creating a warm and approachable atmosphere.
"Becoming a Noyce Scholar has changed my life. I've always thought about teaching, and the opportunities the Noyce Scholarship program has given me are amazing. I've presented at national education conferences, been provided with an experienced mentor teacher to help me in the classroom, and have made friends for life with fellow scholars."

Scholar of the Month

Ruben Valdovinos Jr. '23 Mathematics

Hi, my name is Ruben Valdovinos Jr and I hope to be an amazing math teacher when I graduate from St.Edwards University. I am from Austin, Texas, and identify as a Latino male. There are two teachers that have made a big impact on my life. Ms.Orosco is the teacher who believed in me and gave me all the confidence I needed in the 5th grade to keep pushing forward. Mr.Cowles is the teacher who inspired me to become a teacher. Having those two incredible teachers in my life, and seeing what they were able to do for me made me want to be the next versions of them.
