Four Fulbright Winners, One Mission

As recipients of the prestigious and competitive Fulbright award sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, the four Global Studies majors will embark on separate journeys abroad to teach, learn and immerse themselves in diverse cultures. 

From implementing unique methods of teaching English in Uruguay to studying the positive impacts of sustainable fashion in Taiwan, these graduates are using their education and experience on the hilltop to make a difference in communities around the world.

MY FULBRIGHT GOALS IN TAIWAN 

鈥淚 was awarded a study award from Fulbright and I will be completing a masters in Brand and Fashion Management at Fu Jen Catholic University. I really want to learn about the global markets through the lens of the fashion industry. On top of this, I want to explore my creative side through the medium of art.鈥

MY EXPERIENCES ON THE HILLTOP AND BEYOND

  • Served as the Director of Communications for the Student Government Association
  • Served as a teaching assistant for the School of Behavioral and Social Sciences
  • Interned for Texas District 35 Representative Lloyd Doggett (D)
  • Studied for a semester in South Korea

AFTER MY FULBRIGHT YEAR

鈥淚 want to bring increasingly popular influences from modern East Asian and European styles to innovate a more accessible brand in the U.S. with the utmost focus on sustainability. I will achieve this by making pieces that are made of quality materials and that are sustainable.鈥

MY FULBRIGHT GOALS IN URUGUAY

鈥淚 hope to make learning more creative, interactive, fun and accessible for students of different backgrounds and ages. I鈥檓 already brainstorming ways to create a TikTok or Instagram account for my future students to follow and engage in interactive educational content. I鈥檝e always wanted to live and work in Latin America, so becoming fluent in Spanish is also a goal of mine during my time abroad.鈥

MY EXPERIENCES ON THE HILLTOP AND BEYOND

  • Studied for a semester in Berlin, Germany
  • Traveled to Dominica to assist with research on wildlife stability
  • Presented Cartels and Democracy: An Analysis of U.S. Intervention In Columbia and Mexico at the 顶级国产视频 Honors Thesis Symposium

AFTER MY FULBRIGHT YEAR

鈥淚鈥檝e considered community development through the Peace Corps, but I ultimately want to live in Latin America and pursue opportunities that allow me to engage with various communities, such as teaching or environmental work.鈥

MY FULBRIGHT GOALS IN MOROCCO

鈥淚 am fortunate for the opportunity to live in Morocco for 10 months. During my trip, I will work to be of great service to my students by providing them with the necessary resources needed to further their education. I also want to immerse myself in the culture 鈥 I plan on engaging with my community and building connections and long-lasting friendships.鈥

  • Served as a researcher and writer for the Texas House of Representatives
  • Served as the House Manager and Recovery Coach for Grace Recovery: Transitional Living Homes for Women
  • Studied for a semester in Morocco and volunteered as an English teacher for students and women with Association Al Amal pour le D茅veloppement et Formation

AFTER MY FULBRIGHT YEAR

鈥淚 am open to residing in Morocco down the road, but my overall goal is to continue working in public policy whether it鈥檚 on a national or international level.鈥

MY FULBRIGHT GOALS IN TAIWAN

鈥淎long with my duties as an English Teaching Assistant (ETA), I hope to be immersed in my local community as much as possible by making connections with members of my cohort, students and teachers. I also look forward to testing my Mandarin-Chinese language skills. I am very humbled and grateful to embark on this adventure and will proudly represent SEU throughout my grant period.鈥

  • Served as the Chief of Justice for the Student Government Association
  • Served as an experiential intern with the Kozmetsky Center
  • Studied for a semester at the University of Roehampton, London in England

AFTER MY FULBRIGHT YEAR

鈥淚 aspire to further my education by attending graduate school and deepen my involvement in world affairs by interning for the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).鈥
