Guided Hikes for School Field Trips Are Available!
Trained trail guides are ready to take your students on an outdoor learning adventure they'll enjoy and remember. School field trips are offered at Wild Basin Wilderness Preserve Tuesday - Friday mornings. Download the for additional details.

We encourage a $5/student donation to help cover program costs. Bus reimbursement is currently available for Title I and low-income schools. Please call or email with questions or to schedule a trip for your students. We look forward to hearing from you.
Educational Resources and Opportunities for Teachers and Artists
For K-12 teachers: In addition to offering field trips at the preserve, Wild Basin Creative Research Center supports area schools by providing a range of resources for grades K-12, including natural science lessons, curriculum guides and environmental education videos.
For artists: The Artist in Residence (AIR) program at Wild Basin supports professional artists in the Austin area with an inspiring environment in which to work.
Special educational events for the community.
We also support learning about the natural world through educational events at the preserve, open to all: guided hikes, speaker events, and art in nature workshops. Learn more on our Visiting the Preserve page.
St. Edward's University Wild Basin Creative Research Center is located within Wild Basin Wilderness Preserve. This 227-acre nature preserve is co-owned and co-managed by Travis County and St. Edward's University, and is a treasured resource for our entire community.
