Intern and Study in Washington, D.C.
The Washington Center for Internships and Academic Seminars (TWC) provides challenging opportunities to work and learn in Washington, D.C., for academic credit. TWC is the largest program of its kind with more than 50,000 alumni. Graduates of the program hold leadership positions in virtually every career field, including law, education, social work, medicine, journalism, diplomacy, business and politics.
The Office of Career and Professional Development works with TWC in the fall, spring, and summer semesters to arrange internships and academic seminars. During the program, you will complete an internship for four and a half days and participate in a leadership program with other students for one afternoon per week. You will also participate in a TWC academic course.
Program Requirements
Participants must be enrolled in six hours of course credit at St. Edward’s University. This includes an internship course in your major and a special topics/independent research course that may correlate with TWC coursework. You will work with the career services internship coordinator and TWC school representatives to make these arrangements.
Application
All applicants must receive approval from career services to participate. Prospective candidates should schedule an appointment with career services to review their application, essay, and resume. If you are accepted, you must complete and return the Behavioral and Social Sciences TWC course approval form to your advising specialist.
Those interested in participating in the summer program should schedule an appointment with the Office of Career and Professional Development by early February.
Costs
You can review the program cost on the website for TWC. You will be responsible for paying room and board costs.
If you currently receive financial aid, you should consult the Student Financial Services Office to determine if your funds can be used for TWC program fees.
