Your path to graduation will include hard work, enriching experiences and academic challenges that test and inspire you. To help you stay on top of your studies, St. Edward’s offers a range of support — from tutoring on class concepts to methods for organizing priorities and managing your time.

Your personal success coach is your primary support for navigating your college career. They’ll connect you to all of the resources, opportunities and people that help you realize your goals, including the following support services for being successful in your classes.

Online Tutoring

Online tutoring is available through Pear Deck Tutor (formerly TutorMe). Students can access Pear Deck Tutor 24/7 through the Pear Deck Tutor Canvas course page. Tutoring is free for all students on a limited basis. To get started, visit the  on myHilltop to complete the request form and see the . Supplemental Instruction (SI)

Provides free in-person and virtual review sessions for some of the most challenging courses. SI sessions are led by student leaders who did well in the course and are recommended by faculty. The weekly sessions are interactive and focus on the main concepts of the class. Data shows that students who attend SI regularly earn better grades! Offered fall and spring. 

Sometimes you need help arranging your life, organizing your course information or planning your coursework in a useful way. Make an appointment with your success coach to get help with these study strategies:

  • Time management
  • Goal setting
  • Reading a college textbook
  • Note-taking
  • Test-taking
  • Motivation and procrastination
  • Communication

As experts in your major, your faculty advisor and other professors want to get to know you and are ideal guides and mentors during your time in college. Be sure to connect with them.

All faculty members have office hours, so if you have questions or concerns about a course you’re taking, don’t hesitate to stop by for a visit. Many faculty members are willing to meet by appointment as well.

Like your success coach, your faculty advisor can talk with you about careers in your field, research opportunities, internships and graduate school. They can also write letters of recommendation for internships, jobs and advanced studies you want to pursue.

Specialized assistance for math and writing is available at the Math Lab and Writing Center. Staff at the  can help you with research.
